We had long been looking forward to our escape to Fiji and the trip away didn't disappoint. There was plenty of sun, pool and beach action, eating out and even a few cocktails for mum and dad.

The holiday was off to a good start early when the girls were both good on the flight over. A bit of a snooze and a play for Piper and some coloring and a DVD for Carly and we were there. We had a bit of trouble with our airport transfers to the resort, but it wasn't long and we were at Worldmark Denaru. It was late in the evening so we checked-in grabbed a quick bite to eat at the restaurant and then hit the sack.

The next morning it was pancakes for breakfast and we were off to the pool (it was tough to keep Carly out for that long). The pool was a bit chilly but the sun made sure we were all to happy to take a plunge. The pool was great for Carly, as it sloped in gently from the edge and had a large area that was less than 2ft deep.

The highlight of the next day for the girls was a ride on the Bula Bus - the local bus that serviced all the resorts and went down to the Denaru marina. Carly thought it was pretty good with its open sides and outward facing seats.

The next day was probably my favorite for the trip - we headed out to the nearby resort island Treasure Island. The trip out was about 45min on a large jet cat boat, but with a short ride into the island on a little 20ft tender. We were a little worried about it being a long day for the girls - but all went extremely well. I had a good snorkel on the reef just of the island and made a turtle sand castle with Carly on the beach, while Kim got to have a read on the deck chair on the beach, with Piper asleep on the one next to her. A great day was had by all, and we vowed to return to Treasure Island for a few nights stay next time.

The rest of the of the holiday we took it easy around the pool or the local facilities and even got a baby sitter in for a couple of nights so Kim and I could have some time alone - soooo nice. Carly had a great afternoon at the Kids Club in the resort (although she was to young so Kim had to stay with her) and we hired a bike for a bit of a ride around (Piper had her first bike ride).

We reluctantly came home to the Sydney winter after our 7 nights was up - it was a great time together as a family and an escape from the routine. Yep I think another trip to Fiji will be on the cards in a few years.
